About a fortnight ago we were contacted by a couple whom we have known for many years.

They had heard about our Zambia plans and wanted to help. The couple, Michelle and Andreas Foulia-Constantinou, are the former owners of Roses Tea Rooms in Heswall, which won many awards under their stewardship. Michelle is an amazing cook and Andreas is a trained barista.

They said that they would like to do the cooking in a fundraising Greek Night, making three courses of authentic, home-cooked meze food, and suggested either selling tickets or asking for donations. They had done a similar thing in the past with excellent results.

Naturally, we jumped at the idea! We booked a local venue, our church, created an event on Facebook, and started inviting people. We’re now at around 47 acceptances and about 10-11 maybes and are also in the process of asking local businesses to donate prizes so that we can have a raffle and an auction on the night too.

A number have already got back to us, and we are hopeful that in the next week or two we’ll be able to announce what’s up for grabs on our newly created Facebook page at facebook.com/GreenhalghMissionZambia/

It’s shaping up to be an amazing night. If you’re reading this, and somehow you haven’t been told about it and would like to come and eat dips, pitta bread, halloumi cheese, Greek salad, red cabbage and carrot salad, Cypriot roast potatoes, bulgur wheat pilaff, Greek oven-roasted Mediterranean vegetables and moussaka, with Baklava for dessert on Saturday March 23, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

If you run a business and you think you’d like to donate something for auction or raffle, we’d love to hear from you too.

We’d love your support.

We’re really excited to have been given the opportunity to move to Kitwe as missionaries. But as we won’t be paid for our work, we would really appreciate it if you might consider helping us.

We are very aware of the financial pressures people are under. But if you feel you could help us financially, there are two ways to get involved. We really need individuals and businesses who would be able to  sponsor us with a regular monthly payment of any amount.

One-off donations would also be amazing and can be made via our home church, Jubilee Church Wirral. Donating via Jubilee is safe and secure and means you can Gift Aid your donation. To donate, please visit bit.ly/missionzambia

If you do feel you would be able to sponsor us on a monthly basis, please email us at give@missionzambia.co.uk or call us on 07714 102661.

We really appreciate your prayers and any help you can give us.
