We had hoped that our next update would be from Kitwe but yesterday (August 18) – when we were supposed to be flying to Zambia – we started our two-week countdown again!
In the course of our goodbyes, our lovely eldest daughter Lisby managed to fracture her cheekbone in a rope-swing collision with her best friend. Lisby is recovering very well now but we were told straight away by the specialists at Arrowe Park Hospital that she would not be able to fly on August 18.
A week later we saw a consultant who gave the green light for Lisby to fly from the end of this month, so we have rebooked our flights for Sunday September 1.
As ever, God has taken control of the situation. We moved out of our home on August 10 and into the house of some very good friends, where we are able to stay until our new departure date.
The extra time in the UK has allowed us to spend more time with good friends and make a better job of cramming everything we will need for the next 2+ years into 12 suitcases!
If you are a praying person, we would really appreciate prayer in general and for the following specifically:
- No more mishaps ahead of our journey to Zambia
- The right car to come available that will be reliable and inexpensive
- For furniture and appliances to be easily available for our new home
- Peace for all of us
- Increased financial support, specifically in monthly donations
We’d love your support.
We’re really excited to have been given the opportunity to move to Kitwe as missionaries. But as we won’t be paid for our work, we would really appreciate it if you might consider helping us.
We are very aware of the financial pressures people are under. But if you feel you could help us financially, there are two ways to get involved. We really need individuals and businesses who would be able to sponsor us with a regular monthly payment of any amount.
All giving will go through Avail, a national charity which has been supporting missionaries since 1988.
If you have pledged but have not set up your monthly standing order yet, or if you would like to help us with a monthly gift, Avail’s bank details are as follows:
Account name: Avail
Account number: 64650611
Sort code: 40-27-15
The Avail account is with HSBC, 33 Park Row, Leeds LS1 6AG.
When you set up the standing order, please include your name and ‘Green’ as a reference, so that Avail know who it is for. Please write ‘Your surname’/Green as the reference.
If you are a UK tax payer, allowing your monthly gift to be gift-aided will make a HUGE difference to us. For example, a £30 monthly gift would be increased to £37.50 with gift aid added on – at no extra cost to you.
To set up gift aid, call Avail directly on 0113 234 3013 and ask to speak to Esther or email Esther at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you’d like to find out more about Avail you can find them at www.availmission.com
Thank you again for your generosity – we couldn’t do this without you.
One-off donations would also be amazing.
These can be made via our home church, Jubilee Church Wirral. Donating via Jubilee is safe and secure and means you can Gift Aid your donation. To donate, please visit bit.ly/missionzambia
We really appreciate your prayers and any help you can give us.
